Don't be stupid (you know I love you) - Shania Twain

Don't be stupid (you know I love you) -
Shania Twain
Sometimes playing random playlists looking for stuff that was on my head when I woke up (and I have no idea why) and finding something totally different... ain't a bad thing! Tell that to the me that was dancing convulsively like a maniac in the car driving out of work!! Pleasure end of a nice day that saw me sitting in meetings acting kind-of-like a project manager no-later-than 16 (working) days in the job!! Not bad guys, not bad!!

Lover's eyes - Mumford & Sons

Lovers' eyes - Mumford & Sons
I know what you must be thinking: 'Hey, but M&S just released the first new track after 3 years? Why are you posting older stuff?' or something like that. Am I right? Well, anyway... first of all I'll quote my own comment when I shared their new song on Fb: "Just wondering why even the bands that successfully carved themselves a niche in the pop/rock world by doing something different from the masses then have / feel the need to standardize their sound. The songs may even be pretty (or ok), but please let's stop 'coldplaying' everything!". Yeah, that's it. So no posts about 'Believe' for now, let's see how the song and the whole album turn out in the future! But well... M&S got on my mind tonite for another reason: I was printing a paper in the hall of the hotel I'm staying in and at one point their song 'I will wait' started playing, so I started listening to their album 'Babel', I realised I have never paid much attention to this song, decided to add it to my future playlist and to post it here too. Now I'm listening to the Red Rocks live for the first time and I am kind of despairing about the shift to their current music...!

Red hill mining town - U2

Red hill mining town - U2

"I'm hangin' on."

"I'm still waiting."

In days like this, when nothing relevant happens (does it really?), you just spend your time relaxing and recharging your batteries (or not), taking a trip to the mall and buying things you don't need (do you?), when you're under the shower, listening to songs like this one, letting the hot water soak you and wash away you-don't-know-what (don't you?), songs that matter and that make you think about the big picture, about life, about things, about what you could do better, about what you don't have, about the person you are, about useless crap in the end (isn't it?), but they still make you feel important, alive, and somehow capable of altering your future, even slightly, with your actions and decisions (can we?), you feel that it matters. Stuff matters. It's your life in the end, what your senses perceive and what your mind grasps. It's days like this that...

"To let it go, and so to fade away..."

#sundayrevival Last night - Lunik

Last night - Lunik
I don't have a seasonal bond with many albums, the ones I love the most, I usually listen to them any time of year. Ok, some moments may fit better than others, but feeling a push to listen to a certain album when a time of years comes happens to me... well, with only two albums. The first one is Dido's debut 'No angel', which usually calls me when winter is coming, and the other one, the one whose seasonal power is the strongest, is Lunik's best-of 'Lonely letters', which marks for me the beginning of spring! And while spending a nice day around the parks, woods and city center of Treviso under a not-too-hot, rather just-warm-enough, end-of-March sun and blue sky, Lunik were the perfect soundtrack for my wandering!! Spring has finally come for real (it appears, I'll keep my fingers crossed!), so it's time to listen to Lunik, who have been accompanying the coming of my springtimes since 2009 (that's why this post is a sundayrevival, as, even if theoretically this post is for saturday, technically it's sunday already)!

"Many things I'd like to know, how to choose which way to go.
Many things I'd like to see, what you do for getting free.
If I could fly away alone, like a bird out on my own
Would I stop feeling so lost? I will never know..."

Secret heart - Feist

Secret heart - Feist
It's always hard when I approach new Feist music, at first it really says nothing to me, than after 2-3 listens it starts getting into me and after the 5th I'm already in love! It happened with her 2004 album 'Let it die', which I started listening to recently. A few songs have already found their way to my heart, so I guess that it is not as secret as the one of the person the song is about! Here I'm sharing with you a live version that has been the veichle for my first bonding with the song! Happy weekend!

Let England shake - PJ Harvey

Let England shake - PJ Harvey
There is one, big necessity when you undertake the challenging effort of writing one blog post everyday, and that is constantly finding inspiration for new music! Inspiration can come from all kinds of sources: songs that come to your mind for many different reasons, new music that is released, songs that get played randomly... and most importantly talking with people and just living your daily life! Office life can be quite useful in that sense: when I was an intern last year we had an office playlist and I kept on finding out about new great music. This time around I'm not as lucky under a musical point of view; nevertheless you never know when and how it can happen! Today I added a few colleagues on LinkedIn and I was talking with one of them after when he mentioned he read on my profile that I have this blog and we started talking a bit about music, Arcade Fire and then PJ Harvey and... voilĂ , here I am singing Let England shake in my head, and now sharing it with you! Hope you enjoy!

White winter hymnal - Fleet Foxes

White winter hymnal - Fleet Foxes
Never had I been drawn to listening to an album because I loved the artwork and have then been so repeatedly disappointed by the music. I don't know what the reason is, but I've tried listening to Fleet Foxes 3 or 4 times since their debut came out and the sparkle never lit, I actually found their music a bit disturbing at times... Recently I decided to give it a real try and I listened to their album some 4-5 times, I finally started appreciating a couple of songs but I still wouldn't go as far as saying I like their music. This White winter hymnal is one the two things I saved for now!

Try tonight - Lizzy Grant (Lana del Rey)

Try tonight - Lizzy Grant
The same question that so often comes to me at night has reached my mind tonite too: what (the hell) should I post today?!?! There's so much great music around, so much great music I'm listening to, but I'm so tired when I get through the day that I lack the energies and time to think clearly about what I wanna share with you! Well, taking inspiration from my latest playlist, I'm sharing with you a song whose title actually makes sense with my whole blabbering here-above. I'm gonna try tonight to make a meaningful contribution with the help of then-Lizzy Grant (now-Lana del Rey), hope it'll be a successful one! G'nite!

Friction - Imagine Dragons

Friction - Imagine Dragons
Can I? Is it time? Yeahhhhh it is! Imagine Dragons time!! But first a little updates on my life: I finally got into a residence, a few miles south of where I'm working, but I have a kitchen and a place that resembles a home, finally after weeks of running through hotels!! The room is quite big and nice, almost perfect, except for the fact that... it doesn't feature a bidet! I mean, come on! We are in Italy, I could understand it abroad, but... well, I'll just have to live with it. Take it as a training. Back to ID! I've been in LOVE with their new album and this is one of the songs I'm most attracted to as of now; it is also the opener of my brand new playlist!!

#sundayrevival All fall down - OneRepublic

All fall down - OneRepublic
After and excruciatingly long drive from home to Conegliano, close to where I work (resting in a hotel here for the night), I have realised I've ended up in a thing that looks more like a prison than a hotel, as after I asked the lady at the reception how I could get out, given that she had closed the front door, she gave me the keys of a backdoor to access the hotel from the restaurant.... well, stuff happens and we all fall down! Coming to my room after dining with an ice cream and taking a shower, I was wondering what I could post for this week's sundayrevival. OneRepublic came to my mind somehow and given that I have posted very little stuff out of their first album (my favourite) it makes sense to give them a little room! All fall down is one of my favourite songs of theirs, as besides being a great pop/rock song in terms of lyrics and melodies, it prominently features a cello, my fav instrument!!! Enjoy and have a great new week!

Youth knows no pain - Lykke Li

Youth knows no pain - Lykke Li
Don't know why this wish to listen to Lykke Li came to me tonite, it just did and I'm just enjoying it a lot, after a couple days of full London Grammar and Imagine Dragons mode it's been nice to keep on with another artist I feel in love with recently! I have recently been preparing something in relation to the change it's going to happen in my that I mentioned a few times already (more news on this soon!), and this song is a part of it, so that's one point of view it makes sense under. Another one is that I started working recently and have been feeling the "weight of age" on my shoulders, not being able to sleep as much as I'd like and need especially and generally not having as much free time as I used to...! I'm gonna have to live with it, but I think I can know no pain yet according to Lykke!

Down from the rafters (Huxley remix) - Hundred Waters

Down from the rafters (Huxley remix) - Hundred Waters
Long long long.... the trip home is so excruciatingly never-ending! I left work at 18 sharp and I got home after 23... Ok, I gave a lift to a few people on the way (thanks Blablacar!), but still... I'm so exhausted! I just wanna sleep sleep sleep...! During the long long trip I listened to some music, but the long long trip has been preceded by a long afternoon of reading documents and... not being very productive in general. Thanks goodness I downloaded Spotify on the computer and I could make time pass faster with some music! After listening to London Grammar album and remixed songs, I tried Hundred Waters' remixed release of their latest album 'The moon rang like a bell'. The work is not bad, even if I think that the original is still far better! This is one of my favourite songs (on both versions)!

Shyer - London Grammar

Shyer - London Grammar
I was listening to Hozier in my car and greatly enjoying it! After the album finished, the next playlist started and it was If you wait, London Grammar's debut album! I was pretty pleased about it, haven't been listening to them for quite a while! Gosh, that reminds me how much I loved their album and how much great great music I discovered last year. I really need to find the right time and place to go around buying CDs!! I wish you all a nice friday, tomorrow I'll head home for the first time since I started working, so I guess more good music on the way! Most probably I'll post late (if at all), so forgive me in advance!

Boreal - Hundred waters

Boreal - Hundred waters
I've sent this song to my friend B. a few days ago because it reminded me of her and her wish for a trip throughout Norway (a wish I don't really share, I'm more attracted to Iceland, which still makes sense for the purpose of this post!) and she told me she really liked it and that she went on to listen to Hundred waters for the whole next day. I think I shared something of theirs with her before, I'm not sure, but anyway... all of this just to convince you to give it a try if you don't know the band and the song, it has a record of appreciation! It is also one of my favs on their debut album, so... if you wish to make a trip in the far north, you can't really miss this!!

I'm so sorry - Imagine Dragons

I'm so sorry - Imagine Dragons
This is a post I care about quite a lot, so I hope it will find your favour, my dear readers! Given the wide support and love I've seen around for Imagine Dragons, especially on Google+, I'm not really worried about that! So, apart form the fact that I'm really LOVING Imagine Dragons' new album (I even started liking 'Gold', that I didn't really like until a few days ago), and this song in particular, I want to take advantage of this post to say I'm so sorry about a few things: I'm so sorry that often I don't show the people I love how much I love them; I'm so sorry that I can't devote to this blog the amount of time it deserves, just know that I'm doing my best given my... well, my life; I'm so sorry that I am not exploiting all the occasions that presented, once again I'm doing my best; but most of all I'm so sorry of not being sorry, because I'm living my best in the best way I can!!

Crystals - Of monsters and men

Crystals - Of monsters and men
"2015 is gonna be a kick-ass year for music". That's what's on my mind now. I'd be tempted to just leave that as a blog post, but I don't think it could be defined a blog post! Anyway, I quite like this already, so can't wait to fall in love with it and also for the whole album to come out of course! It's awesomeful that I'll start getting a wage this year, as I'll spend it all on CDs!! Omam's sophomore is coming out in the summer, Florence in June, PJ Harvey sometime before the end of the year, we have the brand new Imagine Dragons... and that's just the beginning! I'm really so excited! But I'll leave you be and enjoy this new pretty work of art!

#sundayrevival Made for lovin' you - Anastacia

Made for lovin' you - Anastacia
Today is sunday and that means it's time for... sundayrevival!! I've had this song on my mind since yesterday and given that's it's quite old and it's on one of the first CDs I ever got (the then-so-fashionable compilations of early 00s), it really is a perfect song for this kind of posts! I have no idea why it came back to me now, I only know that it did. I have been singing it in my head and mumbling it while driving around northern Veneto with my parents this weekend, which has made a pretty nice trip for the weekend! The weekend itself seems to have lasted quite long, and that positive, so I hope I'll kick off the week of works with the right foot! Have a good nite and a great start of the new week!

I drove all night - Cyndi Lauper

I drove all night - Cyndi Lauper
Today I've been driving around with my parents, who came to visit and we've been to a few nice little towns around here where I'm working, it's been quite a nice saturday! To celebrate this saturday night I'm gonna leave you with one last song (for now) out of Cyndi Lauper's best hit. I hope I'm not gonna be driving all night, but some people will be driving (where here is) tomorrow in the early morning, so I better go to bed! F1 seasons begins tomorrow, and even if my pilot's team (badly) sucks by now, I hope the early wake-up call is gonna be worth it! See ya!

Work song - Hozier

Work song - Hozier
I know, I know, I promised I wouldn't post any more Hozier for a while... well I lasted a couple of weeks, but I had to share this with you now! Besides it being one of the last three songs I still haven't shared with you that have been featured min my playlists, it is also the perfect one to celebrate the end of this first week of "real" work! I've had ups and (few) downs, and given that's it's the beginning, it's probably better than I would and should have expected! I mean, it's working, but still... it can be worse. Much worse. And things in the future look quite exciting!! For the time being though, let's just enjoy this weekend!

The end of a story - Anggun

The end of a story - Anggun
This first week of work has almost come to an end and I'm so already within that framework and state of mind that it already seems like I've been working for months, it's gonna be tough to get used to this rhythm of life, especially considering that I'm gonna have to get it for... the rest of my life!! Well, I'm sure I'll get it done! While driving to and from work I've been listening to a few songs and I let the playlists play automatically. They do play alphabetically one after the other, so after the current (the last one titled numerically) the usual first ones starting with 'A' play and well... that way I got to listen to this song, which is one of my favourites of Indonesian singer Anggunn, whom I've been liking for a long long time!! She sang it on the soundtrack of the movie 'Open hearts' (which I don't think I've watched, but... well... whatever)!

Anyone can play guitar - Radiohead

Anyone can play guitar - Radiohead
I've already put in my library the debut albums of NIN and Radiohead (they went quickly!), now I'm listening to other new music and I have quite a bit of stuff queueing up already, I'll have to put their sophomores at the end of the queue (or maybe not, maybe they'll bounce up soon!); anyway I'm not over yet with posting what I have listened to and got to know already! Confirming my first impression, I have enjoyed NIN more for now, but nonetheless there have been a few pieces on Pablo honey that attracted my attention. This is one of them and, well... I am the living example that the title of this song ain't completely true, not that it is meant to be methinks! But I can play harmonica, and that's something already!!

Working man - Imagine Dragons

Working man - Imagine Dragons
Was looking for something appropriate for my first day of (real/paid) work, and well... this just makes it! I'll just tell you that I slept quite badly last night, was probably a bit too excited about this new adventure, and after signing up the contract and getting all the papers done and collecting the materials in the morning, I came to the foot of the mountains where the firm I'll be operating in is located and started by immersing myself fully in the job already, so you can understand if my eyes burn and I just need some sleep!! Wish you a good night, hope to post smth more significant soon!

Me & Anodyne - Hundred waters

Me & Anodyne - Hundred waters
Hello guys! Quick post today because I have to go to sleep and be up and fit tomorrow morning, gotta start working!! I am near Treviso now, staying in a cute b&b and tomorrow morning I'll go sign the papers, get the stuff and move a few miles north towards the small town where the firm I'll be working in is located! Going to be close to the mountains, hope it's not too cold. The drive here today has not been bad, even though it got dark quite soon. Before I loaded a couple nice people in Milan to share the trip, I was listening to my new playlist and I want to share a song out of it with you tonite. After falling in love with their latest work, I got to listen to Hundred waters' debut album and for the time being I find it quite pleasing, I think that in a few more listens I'm gonna like it as much as 'The moon rang like a bell'!! Goodnite to y'all!

#sundayrevival An ordinary life - Amy MacDonald

An ordinary life - Amy MacDonald
You guys thought I didn't post yesterday because I was planning something special for today? I hope not, that would be too high an opinion of me...! As usual, I simply forgot to post and, as often as it happens, I always find it funny that I forget to post in the days that I spend at home, when I'm not doing anything special (and when I would have plenty of time to prepare a good post)!! Well... that's how the human brain works, or at least how mine works... nothing to be proud about! Anyway, it's (actually it was) sunday and so it's time for some song I've been in love with for a long time. I chose Amy MacDonald for this week's revival because I've been (randomly... rather, chronologically) listening to her in the car this past week and well... this song is particularly meaningful for me now. I'm starting to work, like working for real, with a wage and stuff. That's gonna happen on tuesday, so I'm already preparing my luggage and stuff to move back to Veneto. I hope this transition won't last too long, but it's too soon already to update you about what's waiting for me next! In the meanwhile I'll just leave you with these wise words by Amy! Happy new week to you all!

"I don't know where I'll be in ten years time
I want to be free
I don't care about the cameras
I don't care about the lights
All I wanted was an ordinary life"

Down in it - Nine inch nails

Down in it - Nine inch nails
Ok, I know what you all must be thinking: AGAIN?! Yeah, it's time again... it's time for a new musical obsession. It's not gonna be an isolated one of course, as I'm listening to loads of new music as of now and I have more loads of it queueing patiently!! Yet I'm glad I've entered this circle again, as when I'm obsessed with an artist's or a band's music, it means I really really do like it and I'm gonna be liking it and listening to it for... well for my whole life! And it's been a long time since that happened with an artist that had a large discography I could plunge into, so this makes me even happier! Can't wait to share more NIN stuff with you all!!

Come find me - Emile Hanyie (feat. Lykke Li & Romy XX)

Come find me - Emile Haynie
(feat. Lykke Li & Romy XX)
Hello people!! Today's been the first day of this week I didn't have to wake up early to carry out some courses around the city, and of course I ended up staying in bed until midday! I know myself all to well by now... but it's ok! Not a long day, but a really enjoyed one! And I wanna share with you some music I've been enjoying lately, just to stay on topic! I found out this song (and this songwriter) thanks to - I don't remember if Lykke Li's or the XX's facebook page - I think Lykke Li's. It turns out Emile Haynie has been composing songs for other people in the past few years and now he has released his first own album, with other singers featuring on the songs and offering their vocals. This is my favourite for the time being, a very introspective song, very Lykke Li's style, I'm sure you'll all gonna enjoy it too!! Have a good night!

Too much time together - San Cisco

Too much time together - San Cisco
I've been exposed to a lot of new music in the last few years and I must admit that San Cisco are one of my favourite bands belonging to this category, I really connected with their music and I enjoy it quite a lot! After discovering them thanks to a 'Get lucky' cover posted on Fb by the olympic diver Matthew Mitcham (thanks Matthew!) I got interested in their music and I loved their EP and debut album!! Now they're on the verge of releasing their sophomore and a couple songs have already been out for a while. This is the brand new video for this 'Too much time together' that I just got to hear/watch and that I do love already!! Can't wait for the whole album!!

Stop whispering - Radiohead

Stop whispering - Radiohead
As I was mentioning yesterday, I have started listening to the discography of Nine inch nails and Radiohead, and even if I prefer the former band for now, I have found a couple songs I like already on Pablo honey too! My first impression of the album was that it is a bit flat and colourless, especially if compared with the more engaging NIN debut. I don't know if I have to be ashamed about that, I probably do, but I had never even heard 'Creep' before and I was expecting a little more from it, given all the fuss about that song that has been going around in the years. Anyway, I think I'm slowly but steadily building a connection with the band, and this has been the first step of it, so I hope you can enjoy the song too!

Terrible lie - Nine inch nails

Terrible lie - Nine inch nails
It's been a long time since I started listening to a new artist/band with a hefty discography, and I have kinda felt the lack thereof (ok, I have Joni Mitchell and Neil Young on my shelf, but their works are so numerous and I don't love them so much that I keep listening to their albums one right after the other), especially since I finished listening to the whole of Patti Smith, R.E.M. and U2. I've had Radiohead in queue for years and lately I decided to approach NIN too; I am actually listening to their debut albums together since a couple of weeks ago. Contrary to my expectations, I'm liking NIN's 'Pretty hate machine' way better than Radiohead's 'Pablo honey', so here is one of the few songs that I already added to my playlists!

#sundayrevival Just feel better - Santana feat. Steven Tyler

Just feel better - Santana feat. Steven Tyler
Old sayings always come in handy, and one of my favourites is the one about hitting two birds with one stone (or, in Italian, "catching two pigeons with one broad bean"). I just had a good chance to use that, as I was wondering what I could post for today's sundayrevival and then, 5 minutes later, I got this chorus in my head but couldn't remember which song it came from. After a very quick Google search (this time I've been lucky, a couple of other times my brain did this trick to me it has been way more cumbersome to find out which song I was thinking about, one of them is actually still pending!), I found out that Just feel better was the song I have been mumbling in my mind and voilĂ , here both of my problems were solved! I hope this can help you enjoy your sunday too!
